Fees and Submissions/Services
MANUSCRIPT APPRAISAL SERVICE
Fees are based on the word count of the manuscript and are as follows:-| Up to 1000 words | £75 |
| Up to 5000 words | £100 |
| Up to 10,000 words | £150 |
| Up to 25,000 words | £250 |
| Up to 40,000 words | £300 |
| Up to 60,000 words | £350 |
| Over 60,000 words | by arrangement only |
A reduced fee for a manuscript resubmitted within four weeks of receiving a report on the same manuscript is available.
For an additional fee it is possible to arrange an interview with your editor to discuss your work following receipt of your report. See Consultancy Service
Terms
- Fees are per single story and we are strict about word counts.
- Fees include return p&p within the UK. Overseas authors should send international reply coupons or add cost of return postage onto the payment.
- There is a £10 conversion charge for payments other than in sterling.
- Manuscripts do not need to be expensively prepared and packaged – so long as they are clear and in hard copy format (ie. not on disc) we are happy to read them.
- The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a manuscript. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
- Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once appraisal is underway.
- Whenever possible manuscripts are returned within 45 working days.
To Use this Service
You now have three options:-- To pay by cheque print off the Manuscript Appraisal Form and return to our office with your manuscript.
- To pay by credit/debit card over the phone please telephone our office (0797 9905353) with your card details. You will then need to print off the Manuscript Appraisal Form and return to our office with your manuscript.
- Alternatively you can complete the whole process via our online shop. Click here which will take you to the shop which will, in turn, take you to our online form and payment details. You will still need to submit your manuscript to our office as hard copy.
IDEAS APPRAISAL SERVICE
Up to five idea synopses with sample texts £75
Terms
- The fee covers up to five synopses.
- Each synopsis should be no more than two pages of double-spaced text.
- A sample of writing can be included with each synopsis. This should be no more than one page of double-spaced text.
- Synopses texts do not need to be expensively prepared and packaged – so long as they are clear and in hard copy format (ie. not on disc) we are happy to read them.
- The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a submission. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
- Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once appraisal is underway.
- Whenever possible a response is given within 28 days.

- To pay by credit/debit card over the phone please telephone our office (0797 9905353) with your card details. You will then need to print off the Ideas Appraisal Form and return it to our office with hard copy of your ideas. Alternatively you can email the form and ideas once payment has been made.

CONSULTANCY SERVICE
A thirty minute consultation with an editor either on the phone or via email £50
A one hour consultation with an editor in person £80
Terms
- All consultations are by pre-arrangement only and at a date and time to suit both parties.
- In the case of a telephone consultation the cost of the telephone call is the responsibility of The Writers’ Advice Centre.
- The editor reserves the right to terminate the telephone conversation, or email correspondence, at the end of the allotted time.
- The venue for ‘in person’ consultations will be decided by the editor.
- The fee is payable upfront and is non-refundable should the client cancel the consultancy session less than 48 hours beforehand.

You now have three options:-- To pay by cheque print off the Consultancy Service Form and return it to us with your payment.
- To pay by credit/debit card over the phone please telephone our office (0797 9905353) with your card details. We can then go through the application process with you.
- Alternatively you can complete the whole process via our online shop. Click here which will take you to the shop which will, in turn, take you to our online form and payment details.
In all instances we will be back in touch with you within 1 – 3 days after payment has been received. Should the session prove impossible to arrange for whatever reason payment will be refunded in full.
COPY-EDITING SERVICE
Fees are based on the word count of the manuscript and are as follows:-
Up to 5000 words £150
Up to 10,000 words £250
Up to 20,000 words £350
Up to 30,000 words £450
Up to 40,000 words £550
Up to 50,000 words £650
Over 50,000 words by arrangement only

- Manuscripts should be in final, finished format as far as the author is concerned.
- This service will include anything from simple corrections to grammar and spelling, to complete re-structuring of manuscript content. Copy-editing corrections will be at the discretion of the editor.
- The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a manuscript. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
- Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once copy-editing is underway.
- Whenever possible manuscripts are returned within 28 working days.

- Please note that we do not currently offer an online copy editing service.
