Fees and Submissions/Services

MANUSCRIPT APPRAISAL SERVICE

Fees are based on the word count of the manuscript and are as follows:-

Up to 1000 words £75

Up to 5000 words £100

Up to 10,000 words £150

Up to 25,000 words £250

Up to 40,000 words £300

Up to 60,000 words £350

Over 60,000 words by arrangement only

A reduced fee for a manuscript resubmitted within four weeks of receiving a report on the same manuscript is available.

We can provide a faster response for 50% of the standard fee added onto the overall cost.

For an additional fee it is possible to arrange an interview with your editor to discuss your work following receipt of your report. See Consultancy Service

Terms

• Fees are per single story and we are strict about word counts.
• Fees include return p&p within the UK. Overseas authors should send international reply coupons or add cost of return postage onto the payment.
• There is a £10 conversion charge for payments other than in sterling.
• Manuscripts do not need to be expensively prepared and packaged – so long as they are clear and in hard copy format (ie. not on disc) we are happy to read them.
• The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a manuscript. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
• Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once appraisal is underway.
• Whenever possible manuscripts are returned within 40 working days.

To Use this Service

You now have three options:-

1. To pay by cheque print off the Manuscript Appraisal Form and return to our office with your manuscript.
2. To pay by credit/debit card over the phone please telephone our office (0797 9905353) with your card details. You will then need to print off the Manuscript Appraisal Form and return to our office with your manuscript.
3. Alternatively you can complete the whole process via our online shop. Click here which will take you to the shop which will, in turn, take you to our online form and payment details. You will still need to submit your manuscript to our office as hard copy.

TELEPHONE APPRAISAL SERVICE

Up to 1000 words £50

Up to 5000 words £75

Terms

• Manuscripts should be emailed as a Word document attachment.
• Louise Jordan is the only editor for this service.
• This service is only available for manuscripts of up to 5000 words.
• This service is only available to authors who are residing in the UK.
• The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a submission. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
• Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once appraisal is underway.
• Whenever possible a response is given within 14 days.
• This service uses a premium rate number. Calls are charged at £1.20/min from BT landlines. Charges from other networks and mobiles may vary.

To Use this Service

You now have three options:-

1. To pay by cheque print off the Telephone Appraisal Form and return to our office with hard copy of your manuscript. We will then call you to arrange a mutually convenient time for the telephone feedback session.
2. To pay by credit/debit card over the phone please telephone our office (0797 9905353) with your card details. You will then need to email the Telephone Appraisal Form to info@writersadvice.co.uk with your manuscript. We will then email you to arrange a mutually convenient time for the telephone feedback session.
3. Alternatively you can complete the whole process via our online shop. Click here which will take you to the shop which will, in turn, take you to our online form and payment details. You will then need to email your manuscript to us separately.

TELEPHONE CONSULTANCY SERVICE

Terms

• This is a premium rate number.
• The consultant is Louise Jordan.
• Line opening hours are Monday to Thursday, 12.30pm – 5.30pm.
• Louise reserves the right to make herself unavailable at these times should the occasion arise. However it is also possible to make an appointment to talk on the advice line outside of these times.

COPY-EDITING SERVICE

Fees are based on the word count of the manuscript and range from:-

Up to 5000 words         £200
Up to 10,000 words      £300
Up to 20,000 words      £400
Up to 30,000 words      £500
Up to 40,000 words      £600
Up to 50,000 words      £700

Over 50,000 words by arrangement only and please note that all fees are an estimate. We can come up with a definitive price upon viewing of the manuscript concerned.

• This service will include anything from simple corrections to grammar and spelling, to complete re-structuring of manuscript content. Copy-editing corrections will be at the discretion of the editor.
• The Writers’ Advice Centre reserves the right to refuse acceptance of a manuscript. In such instances the fee will be refunded in full.
• Fees are payable upfront and are non-refundable once copy-editing is underway.
• Whenever possible manuscripts are returned within 20 working days.
